Overwriting a single file repeatedly increases the risk of data corruption. Adding a new slot creates a milestone backup that protects your journey. xstoryplayer-cli --load current_story

If you have backed up your saves (as recommended above), you can simply copy them back into the new version’s save folder. For Windows users, the update should carry over your saves automatically, but a backup is always a safety net.
