Method 1: Modify the Windows Registry (Steam & Retail Versions)
If you have just launched only to be greeted by a wall of Cyrillic text, you are not alone. Many players accidentally purchase the Russian region version of the game or experience a language lock due to their Windows system locale settings.
If your config.ini file changes back to Russian after you launch the game, the file permissions are blocking your save. Right-click the config.ini file, select , check the Read-only box, and click Apply . This stops the game from overwriting your English preference. Audio is English but Text is Russian

Sometimes the language files are simply missing or corrupted.
Look for a configuration file named , skidrow.ini , or flt.ini . Open this file using Notepad .

If you own the game on Steam, the easiest fix is changing the language protocol in your local game files. Close the game completely.
